The festival of
maidens and married women. Women attired in their best costumes and
jewellery, pray to Gauri, and incarnation of Goddess Parvati. The
eighteen days celebration begis the day after holi (Festival of
colours). Married women pray fo the well being and long life of
their husband and the young girls seek the blessings for a life
partner of their choice, Processions of Gauri, are taken out with
pomp ad gaiety from Junagarh and the women from old city sing
melodious folk songs, accompanied by musicians and bands. |
